Advanced Counting

Soon we will be learning to read standard musical notation, and this will be much easier if we already have a solid grasp of counting. Beginners usually have more trouble reading the time than the actual notes, but we have already made a good start by learning to count quarter and eighth notes.

Now it is time to count faster notes, and to recognize and play some of the rhythmic patterns that you will be encountering frequently. In addition, we will learn to count and play triplets—groups of three notes that share a beat.
